Winners of the 2012 Robert R. Barber Endowment Fund for Scholarship and Training Awards

The Winners

In 2001, AMA Richmond established the Robert R. Barber Endowment Fund for Scholarship and Training, named for Bob Barber, CEO and co-owner of Barber Martin Advertising, who was the AMA-Richmond President for 1998-99. The goal of the fund was to reach $100,000 by 2008 with a mission to build a bridge between AMA Richmond and the local collegiate chapters and provide meaningful scholarships through an annual scholarship award program. Since 2001, the fund has grown from $17,000 at its creation to just over $100,000 today, thanks to both corporate and individual contributions, as well as contributions of AMA-Richmond chapter funds raised through events.

At the April monthly luncheon the AMA-Richmond Chapter announced the award of 3 scholarships to local marketing/business students.

Pauline Singleton

First Place

Pauline Singleton

Pauline is a third year marketing student at VCU's School of Business with plans to graduate in May 2013.  She has recently been accepted into the highly selective da Vinci baccalaureate certificate program of interdisciplinary studies.  She joined the university’s chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) in the fall of 2011 and was elected by her peers as the Vice President of Fundraising for AMA-VCU Chapter.  She enjoys participating in the program and helping establish community involvement within the chapter.  Additionally, she represents VCU on campus as a Verizon Ambassador and participates in the Google Adwords National Collegiate Challenge. Pauline is very passionate about marketing and is always ready to take on new challenges. In November 2010, Pauline started Studio 11 Marketing and has been working with local clients to develop, implement and maintain social media programs for their businesses.  She gives her clients online personalities and creates an engaging atmosphere for their followers.  Overall, Pauline's unique blend of education and business experience allows her to share leadership, creativity, and integrity with her colleagues and future AMA members.

Pauline’s selection by the scholarship committee as both a finalist and the first place recipient of the 2012 AMA scholarship award was unanimous.  Her accomplishments, academic achievements and dedication to her development as a marketing professional is profoundly recognized and it is my pleasure to award her the 2012 AMA Richmond First Place Scholarship Award.
